Outside of magic, Michael Nguyen actively serves his community as a 911 first responder in Contra Costa County as an EMT. His work-ethic and dedication to his community has earned him respect and recognition from his peers. From 2018-2022, Michael has trained over 50 EMT’s as a Field Training Officer.
Michael delivers the same “strong work” to his magical clients as he does to his injured and ill patients. Simply put, Michael Nguyen is an individual you can count on.
Michael Nguyen started performing magic professionally in 2021 after getting numerous requests from family and friends. Michael Nguyen was eventually noticed by the CEO of Global Medical Response and was booked for a private event.
With that confident boosting and inspirational magic show, Michael Nguyen opted to study stage magic and theater from the Chavez Studio of Magic in 2022. That same year, never performing on stage, took a chance and entered the Oakland Magic Circle Stage Magic Competition and won. With the publicity winning the contest, Michael Nguyen started getting a flood of emails and more magic work.
Michael Nguyen is very competitive (high school wrestling background) and competed and placed in various contests including;
- Oakland Magic Circle Northern California Inter-Club Stage Contest 2023 – 2nd Place
- Vacaville’s Got Talent 2023 – Adult Division Champion
- International Brotherhood of Magicians 2023 Convention, Pittsburgh PA – Stage Magic Finalist
- Ron Saylor’s Celebrities of Magic, Bakersfield CA Variety Show Contest – Runner Up
- FISM North America Texas Convention – Stage Manipulation Contestant
Oakland Magic Circle
Michael Nguyen was later elected as Sergeant at Arms with Oakland Magic Circle in 2023 and functioned as the contest coordinator, stage manager, lecturer, and emcee for various events. In October 2025 Michael Nguyen represented the Oakland Magic Circle at the Oakland Heritage Alliance and accepted the Preservation award for the organization. At the end of 2025 Michael Nguyen was elected as President for 2026 with good things to come.
Magic Origins and Beyond
Michael Nguyen’s first interest in magic started in 2006 when he watched all of David Blaine’s specials leading up to his “Drowned Alive” Special. After learning some magic tricks from the public library, his mother was so impressed she hired a professional magician to tutor him through 2009 learning close-up magic.
